The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, the mayor of the Yaiza City Council, Ángel Domínguez, the deputy mayor, Leonardo Rodríguez, and the manager of the Water Consortium, Antonio Cárdenas, held a meeting this Thursday to address some aspects of the work of replacing the Uga-Las Breñas water pipe and the consequences that have arisen from this project.
In the meeting, they talked about the southern Corporation's request to financially compensate the residents, who have continued to pay bills for water "not suitable for human consumption" at the same price as water for domestic use and, at the same time, have had to buy bottled water. Similarly, the southern delegation reminded the president of the "endless list of damages" that this water has caused in appliances, cisterns and hydrants in the municipality.
In addition, Ángel Domínguez and Leonardo Rodríguez informed San Ginés of all the steps that the southern City Council has taken to request financial compensation for these residents. The last one, the meeting held just two weeks ago with the bankruptcy administrators of Inalsa, who offered their support for the adoption of some corrective measure in the water tariff, although they stated that the only body competent to make this decision is the Island Water Consortium.
From the Yaiza City Council they affirm that Pedro San Ginés offered "all his support" to the claim of the Consistory and the residents of Yaiza, and promised to bring an initiative on this issue to the next meeting of the Island Consortium.
The southern delegation requested, finally, that all the garden areas that have been damaged after the pipe replacement work be repaired and conditioned.
