United Left Lanzarote has denounced in a press release that "it is unacceptable that the Lanzarote Council and its president, Oswaldo Betancort, continue to demonstrate an alarming lack of foresight." Thus, it has indicated that "every year, with the arrival of intense rainfall, the same heartbreaking images are repeated: flooded streets, stopped vehicles and entire communities at the mercy of inaction."

The left-wing party has indicated that in addition to this, "the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, invests significant resources in festivals and celebrations, flagrantly neglecting indispensable investments in rainwater infrastructure and sanitation. This policy of misplaced priorities puts the safety and well-being of our fellow citizens at risk, especially in the capital, where the problem worsens year after year."

In this sense, United Left Canaria Lanzarote firmly rejects "the inefficient management in the face of the storm that has left evident deficiencies in the planning and execution of preventive measures." “We cannot allow the lack of foresight to translate into material damages that could be mitigated with a committed administration. Our commitment is to closely monitor that the authorities cover the urgent repairs and that effective measures are adopted to prevent future tragedies,” added the representative of United Left on the island, Jorge Peñas.

Likewise, the party has expressed "a word of encouragement and solidarity to those affected by this storm. We are pleased that, despite the circumstances, no human losses have been recorded, but we cannot ignore the high material and emotional cost that each episode entails."

In United Left Canaria Lanzarote we are attentive and demand that the competent administrations –both the Council and the Arrecife City Council– "redirect their priorities, betting on an investment in infrastructure that guarantees the safety and quality of life of all citizens, without neglecting the commitment to policies that respect our environment and guarantee the evacuation of rainwater, and that control the areas where construction takes place to ensure they are water passages."
