A total of 11 young people from Lanzarote attended as delegates to the VIII Regional Congress of New Generations of the Popular Party, held this weekend in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The island's expedition was headed by the island president of the PP, Astrid Pérez, and the general secretary, Saray Rodríguez, who is also president of New Generations in Lanzarote.
In addition, two young people from Lanzarote joined the new regional board chaired by María Amador. These are Juan Rivera Ortega, as Deputy Secretary of Political Action, and Francisco Melián, as Executive Secretary.
Juan Rivera Ortega, councilor in the City Council of San Bartolomé, is currently Deputy Secretary of Organization of the Local Committee and Executive Secretary of Public Events in the island leadership of the Popular Party. For his part, Francisco Melián holds the Deputy Secretariat of Implementation and Communication of the Local Committee of Teguise.
During the Congress, "the commitment of the youngest to the political project of the Popular Party" was highlighted, as well as their approaches to issues as important as employment or policies on youth and education", according to the formation in a statement.
The island leader, Astrid Pérez, wanted to highlight "the enthusiasm and desire to participate in public life that the members of New Generations have shown during the regional event", while encouraging young people from Lanzarote to "get involved and continue to participate actively in politics and in the organic life of the party".
