The Tinajo City Council will request the General Directorate of Coasts for the maritime and land concession of the La Santa lake for aquatic and leisure equipment. "I have to tie up the loose ends so that the Town Hall has control of this place," said the mayor, Jesús Machín, on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.

Machín has announced that the City Council is working on a project to request this concession and, for this, it has already held several meetings with Coasts. The City Council wants this concession in order to decide "what is done and what is not" in this lake.

With this concession, the City Council intends to obtain an economic return, which it would not achieve if Costas continues to maintain the competition of the lake, since any company that wants to carry out activities should pay a fee to Costas and not to the municipality. "Right now, if they give a concession to the company that wanted to put the cable ski, for example, the City Council has nothing to do with it, not even economically. The company would pay Costas," Machín explained.

Machín has assured that this project "is advanced" and has defended it because it is "a way to maintain the environment". If the City Council obtains this concession, it could tender the performance of activities in this lake and receive an amount from the awarded company.

Regarding the cable ski project, the mayor does not know if there is any progress. "I imagine that the company exists and is there, but I don't even have to know about it," he limited himself to saying. The mayor already showed himself against this project of a private company, which plans to install a tower of about 10 meters and several of between 4 and 6 meters high in the La Santa lake to practice cable skiing.
