Tinajo has presented its action plan for the revitalization of the productive and commercial fabric 'Tinajo Next'. A diagnosis that has been developed over several months on the ground as part of a future strategy for the municipality. The study was prepared by the Tinajo City Council in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and is, together with two other lines of work, "a great commitment to boost its productive fabric and its economy", they point out from the Consistory

"Future, strategy, decision and action. They are not just words, it is a map to not get lost and survive with guarantees in the current context", as explained by the consultant in charge of preparing this work, José A. Fleitas, which began in 2019 and was extended by the pandemic. Fleitas has mapped the municipality, conducting interviews with all sectors. He has carried out a qualitative investigation and a complete evaluation of the services and the primary sector to elaborate this diagnosis that will serve as a guide in the decision making in the medium term, until 2025.

The presentation was chaired by the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín; the Councilor of Commerce of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Carmen Guadalupe; the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, and the director of the Trade Diagnosis project, José Alonso Fleitas.

The president of the Chamber of Commerce, José Valle, has valued this commitment as exemplary because "it is completely aligned with the criteria established as priorities of the business corporation. "Tourism must be linked to local economies such as zero kilometer, commerce or crafts of origin. Tinajo is promoting its circular economy, giving value to its producers, entrepreneurs and businessmen and this is a commitment that we hope that very soon other municipalities will begin to make".

For the Councilor of Commerce of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Carmen Guadalupe, "it is important to support the people who are committed to work and take care of their own with work, with respect and with commitment in the primary sector", the most important thing she said is that vision of "the island as a large commercial area open as a whole where each municipality is different but has a product that we have to value".

The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has highlighted the effort of the small businessmen and entrepreneurs of his locality, who are "those who make it possible" and has said as a conclusion of the act that "this is the beginning, the future has just begun because we are going to promote this primary sector and everything that has to do with it".

In addition to this diagnosis, the 100% Tinajo initiative has been presented, which has been developed in parallel to make visible the work of local producers. In this case, the initiative has had a European subsidy, channeled through Cámara España and the island's Chamber of Commerce. The plan is part of the Retail Trade Program that is co-financed by the Secretary of State for Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF.

On the website you can see the audiovisual in which several protagonists of the place collaborate to give value to the product. In addition, a directory of local producers is available on the website.

The idea is, in the words of the consultant who has prepared the diagnosis, that "Tinajo will take its rightful place on the map". To this end, work is already underway in five identified niches that have been described as mines, and that have to do with experiential tourism, logistics or entrepreneurship and technology.
