The City Council of Tías, through the Department of Tourism, has joined the celebration of World Tourism Day, which is celebrated every September 27. Throughout this Friday, visitors and tourists who have passed by the Tourist Information Office on Avenida de las Playas, in Puerto del Carmen, have been presented with flowers. This celebration will continue this weekend with the Tapas Festival in El Varadero square, in La Tiñosa, where, in addition, tastings will be offered and concerts and musical performances will be held. On Sunday, the Parranda El Geito will perform.

The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, accompanied by the councilor, Nerea Santana, have been participating for a while in this hospitable and grateful initiative, handing out these flowers themselves to passersby on Avenida de las Playas, in Puerto del Carmen.

El Varadero square, in La Tiñosa, in Puerto del Carmen, will once again be a human river this coming weekend with the celebration of the new edition of the Tapas Festival. The Tías City Council anticipates that nearly 10,000 people, mostly tourists staying in the tourist areas of Puerto del Carmen, will pass through this festival between Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29.

The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, supervised this morning the assembly of the Tapas Festival, where, in addition, Tías will centralize the celebration of World Tourism Day. Municipal workers are finalizing all the assembly in El Varadero square this Friday.

Last year, the Tapas Festival, which was held in July, marked a record number of attendees, which is expected to be surpassed this weekend coinciding with the events of World Tourism Day and World Tapas Day.

The Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Carmen Steinert, and the Councilor for Tourism, New Technologies and Coordination of the City Council of Tías, Nerea Santana, held a working meeting this past Tuesday with professionals from the gastronomy and wine sector of Lanzarote who this year will attend this Fiesta de la Tiñosa with their best culinary creations. In that meeting, held in the halls of El Fondeadero, in Puerto del Carmen, the stands were distributed, organizational aspects were specified and the adhesion of many restaurants was achieved so that a part of the income from the sale of tapas and drinks is destined to the social canteen in Lanzarote managed by Calor y Café, through a solidarity action of Rotary Club, whose members and volunteers, will be responsible for the sale of these drinks in several stands.

The Tapas festival in La Tiñosa will start this Saturday, 28, from 6:00 p.m. The first day the festival will be open until 10:00 p.m. On Sunday, the 29th, it will open between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The Department of Tourism of the Tías City Council has jointly programmed several musical performances and concerts during these days in addition to the entertainment of the festival with a DJ.

In this second edition of the Tapas Festival in Puerto del Carmen, 14 outstanding restaurateurs from Lanzarote, 4 wineries, 1 pastry shop and 1 ice cream parlor will participate, in addition to the 3 stalls for the sale of drinks, water and soft drinks.

The Tías City Council suggests that all those people who intend to attend, and come in their respective cars, park their vehicles in the parking lots next to Corros and the Health Center, or in the vicinity of the Puerto del Carmen Institute, which recently opened. The one inside El Varadero square will be closed during these days for the development of the Tapas Festival.
