The Lanzarote Wine Regulatory Council will have a new headquarters and will move to the Farmer's Monument for the next ten years, with the option of an extension of another decade.
According to official sources speaking to La Voz, this is a “strategic” site for both institutions, as it is a key site for the island's wine sector. In this way, the offices of the Regulatory Council will become a direct information point for tourists.
In addition, the next step between both institutions will be the creation of a joint store with Lanzarote wines in the Farmer's Monument itself. There, qualified personnel will explain to attendees the process of making Lanzarote wines, and there will also be talks and activities.
It should be remembered that the Regulatory Council already had to leave the premises it occupied in San Bartolomé, when the City Council announced in January 2020 that it was going to allocate that property to the new Family Respite Center. The Consistory then offered the Council the alternative of the Casa Mayor Guerra, although it was rejected since they considered that it did not adapt to the needs of the service they provide.
Months later, the Teguise City Council offered the Regulatory Council a headquarters in the Agro-industrial Complex, and in July 2021 it handed over the keys to the premises.
However, now the intention is to face this new move, to settle in the emblematic Farmer's Monument, which is in turn a usual place of passage for tourists. At the moment the deadlines have not been specified, but the sources consulted indicate that it will be "in the near future, pending small administrative details".
