The Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin "Vinos de Lanzarote" wanted to honor the women journalists who practice their profession in Lanzarote, on the occasion of International Women's Day, which was celebrated this Tuesday. The president, Javier Betancort, has invited the journalists to a tasting of the exquisite wines of Lanzarote at the Lilium restaurant, in Arrecife.

In addition, it should be remembered that recently the Regulatory Council reported that the 2010 harvest had received the "excellent" rating for the third time since the creation of this entity 17 years ago. A selection of 25 wines were scored, specifically 10 dry Malvasias, 6 semi-sweet whites, 4 rosés, 3 young reds, a sweet Malvasia and a sweet Muscatel.

The grapes harvested in 2010 barely exceeded one and a half million kilos, but sales increased by 32 percent compared to the previous year.
