The regional government gives the green light to the inclusion of the complementary leisure offer in the PTE

The Minister of Territorial Policy and Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Domingo Berriel, has assured that a new delay in the approval of the Special Territorial Plan (PTE) by the Cabildo of Lanzarote does not put at risk the declassification of 25,000 beds, while he asserted that this plan may include the complementary leisure offer. This was explained at least by the president of the Cabildo, Inés Rojas, after the meeting she held with the regional minister.

Berriel's opinion dismantles the thesis of Minister Carlos Espino that the complementary leisure offer cannot be included now in the PTE because the delay it would cause would put at risk the declassification of 25,000 beds. Inés Rojas maintained that Berriel stressed that those beds "are already declassified by law".

With the approval of the Autonomous Government, President Inés Rojas will now continue with her intention to include the complementary leisure offer in the PTE. In this sense, a meeting will be held next Wednesday with the spokespersons of the political groups of the Cabildo to establish a work schedule.

The first thing will be to hold a meeting with the mayors so that they can make their proposals on complementary leisure in their respective municipalities.
