The Socialist Party of Lanzarote, through its general secretary and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo, has denounced the paralysis of the San Bartolomé Wind Farm, awarded in the last legislature under her mandate, and has demanded "immediate explanations from the island government led by Oswaldo Betancort."

Corujo has pointed out that this project, "key to advancing towards renewable energies and reducing the island's energy dependence, cannot stagnate without a clear justification." “The paralysis of this wind resource reflects the abandonment of a sustainability model that is essential for Lanzarote, especially at a time when the population is suffering constant water cuts due to the lack of planning and efficient management of island resources”, she stated.

The socialist leader related the inaction in this project to the current water crisis, highlighting that both problems "are the result of the same poor political management." “We have an island that is going through an unprecedented water crisis, with overloaded desalination plants and widespread cuts in dozens of towns, while the Cabildo keeps a project paralyzed that could contribute to a more efficient and sustainable energy system”, she added.

The PSOE of Lanzarote has described this situation as "another example of the misgovernment that the island is experiencing under the Canary Coalition and the Popular Party." “Not only do they not face the urgent needs of the population, such as access to water, but they also sabotage the future of the island by stopping strategic projects such as the wind farm”, Corujo stressed.
