The Socialist Party (PSOE) warns this Monday, through a press release, that "months go by and the current government of Teguise, formed by the Canarian Coalition (CC), the Popular Party (PP), and the former VOX councilor, continues without approving the budgets for 2025."
“The Corporation's budget, points out the socialist spokesperson Marcos Bergaz, must be in effect at the beginning of the year, according to the Law of Local Finances; however, we are in mid-April and it has not even been initially approved in the plenary hall of Teguise,” he declares.
“And that's despite the fact that last December we invited the municipal government to focus on approving this year's accounts; and that's despite the fact that they said they were ´working on it´, well, so far no new budget,” Bergaz recalls.
“In any case - says the Teguise leader - it is urgent to overcome the 'outdated' 2024 budget, currently extended and approved then with the sole votes of CC, PP, and VOX, for being the least investor and participated of the last five years, since they did not allow the opposition to present amendments and have only executed 18 out of every 100 euros of chapter six for investments."
“We once again urge the government to focus, to overcome differences, to fulfill its duty to approve the budget and contemplate fundamental items with which to face investments in sports, improvement of playgrounds, basic infrastructures, or revision of planning," emphasizes Bergaz.
“And if they have difficulties, we lend them a hand, because politics requires agreements, with the sole conditions of designing accounts that allow us to recover the lost leadership and the budgetary normality of the Institution,” adds the councilor.
“For our part, the attempt to help will not be lacking, whether when talking about budgets, investments, or designing the future of a municipality that, in other times, led the municipalism of Lanzarote, and now sees how municipalities to the right and left overtake us,” concludes Marcos Bergaz.
