The Socialist Party (PSOE) of Teguise announces through its municipal spokesperson and regional deputy Marcos Bergaz, the presentation of an amendment to the Canary Islands budgets currently being processed by Parliament, aimed at ensuring that an economic allocation for the construction of the new educational center in Costa Teguise is included.

An amendment, for an amount of 1.1 million euros which is part of the more than five hundred proposals for partial improvements to the regional accounts for 2026 put forward by the Socialist Parliamentary Group.

The socialists of Teguise consider it "a moral and political duty to present themselves to guarantee an economic allocation that ensures the bidding, awarding, and commencement in 2026 of the works for this new educational center, which is set to address the present and future educational needs of Costa Teguise, a town with over 9,000 residents".

At this point, the socialists recall that "there is a drafted project, after it was awarded in the last legislature, with the Lanzarote councilor Manuela Armas being responsible for Education, and it has been completed in the current term, in addition to all political parties with representation in the municipality agreeing on the need for it.""For all these reasons, as a deputy for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, as well as a municipal spokesperson – states the socialist leader – we cannot miss the opportunity to amend the Canary Islands' accounts to include the aforementioned allocation, especially since the draft budget signed by the current Canary Islands government, formed by Coalición Canaria (CC) and Partido Popular (PP), does not include it.""The objective," Bergaz points out, "is clear: to guarantee the tender and commencement in 2026 of works that still do not appear on the contractor's profile, even though the Canary Islands government anticipated that 'they could begin around mid-2024,' as the Ministry of Education informed us in writing at the end of 2023.""This new center must move forward, become a reality, and 'relieve' the current demand being met by the two existing public educational centers in Costa Teguise, CEIP and IES Costa Teguise, hence the convenience of presenting said amendment to guarantee the existence of an economic allocation," Bergaz highlightsTo conclude, Marcos Bergaz urges "the parliamentary groups supporting the Canary Islands Government to show their hand and enable the approval of this amendment that will put a name and surname to the economic item 'new CEO Costa Teguise' to ensure that in 2026 the tender and commencement of works for such a necessary educational center will take place".
