The Popular Party has joined the complaints that had already been conveyed to La Voz by residents of Costa Teguise, especially in the area near the Urbis residential area. "The discomfort is evident among the residents of many streets in Costa Teguise who unanimously point to the state of neglect in which the gardens are found and the visible degradation of the valuable palm groves that had been the green lung of the urbanization, natural heritage and hallmark of an entire community," the PP argues in a statement.
According to Popular Councilor Paco Dorado, "the general complaint is compounded by problems that are appearing neighborhood by neighborhood." Specifically, he refers to the urbanizations of Calle Panamá, with nearly 800 residents, who, given the neglect of the City Council, have not stood idly by, and their communities are taking care of the nearby gardens with their own resources, even though they are municipal public spaces."
In addition, the councilor adds that "this situation, which the residents themselves remedy, is almost anecdotal when compared to other, more serious deficiencies, which may even pose a risk to any pedestrian."
In this regard, he assures that there are other "complaints" and other problems, such as "streetlights that give shocks, absence of trash cans throughout the street, a poorly managed container area where the necessary cleaning and sanitization work is not carried out, as well as the total neglect of public areas between urbanizations, whose situation, perhaps because they are not very visible spaces, exceeds neglect and can become a danger due to the accumulation of dry plant matter."
To all this, the councilor adds "a curious, irregular reality, which is also a clear example of the absence of municipal officials in the area." And he argues that "some residents of low apartments have proceeded to occupy municipal public space, poorly landscaping the back of their homes through precarious fences."
