The Popular Party of San Bartolomé has denounced the "serious problems" that it claims Playa Honda suffers, which have been recurring in the public lighting of the town. "Deficiencies that have caused many residents to have been up to a week with their street in the dark, with the insecurity and danger that this entails," they denounce from the PP.

"The seriousness of the problem is not so much because some incident occurs occasionally, which would be normal, but the fact that, repeatedly, there are blackouts in different streets, so almost permanently there is some area without lighting," denounces the president of the local committee, Jeziel Martín.

"Once some streets are connected, the lighting goes down in others, and start again, so we are talking about a widespread discomfort among the residents of the town, who do not deserve the precariousness that is being offered in a public service that is basic and essential," adds Martín.

The local leader has announced that they will request the appearance of the mayor in the next plenary session, in order to "clearly explain what is happening and, more importantly, when is it expected to solve this problem that has lasted for many months."

The populars recall that when the investment of just over 800,000 euros in public lighting was announced, "the government itself recognized that it was one of the most demanded works by the neighborhood."

"It is sad that the great solution has become the great problem", adds Jeziel Martín, who defends that a town like Playa Honda, with 10,500 residents, "deserves better public services and cannot continue at this point battling with something as basic as lighting."
