The PP has announced a ruling that condemns the Tías City Council to pay a millionaire compensation that, according to this party, "will cast doubt on the financial capacity" of the main tourist center of Tías. According to what they have explained through a statement, the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has condemned the Council to pay 3,338,274.44 euros, with the corresponding interest, for the expropriation of two small farms located on Los Infantes street, in the center of La Tiñosa, in Puerto del Carmen.

According to that ruling, which was issued a year ago and which, according to the PP, was "hidden by the PSOE-CC pact in the Tías City Council", the TSJC thus accepts the contentious appeal of the owner of the land, who appealed the agreement of the Provincial Jury of Forced Expropriation. In this agreement, the fair price was set for a 310 square meter plot located in Puerto del Carmen, and a house in poor condition with an area of 238 square meters on Los Infantes street, in the La Tiñosa area.

"During all these years, since its approval, the plots have not had any use and were unnecessary for the global interests of the residents and the Administration itself," the PP said in a statement. Given this situation, the PP has requested an extraordinary plenary session so that all the documentation is provided, it is said what were the criteria for this expropriation, what use the land was intended for.

But, especially the Popular Party wants to know if now with this compensation, plus interest, which "would be around 4 million euros, the Tías City Council would be close to bankruptcy." And, as this party has recalled, the Council already has a high debt that, as of December 31, 2010, amounts to 28 million euros.

"The recklessness is that the Tías City Council has been condemned to the largest compensation in its history and hiding it from the residents for more than a year," denounced the PP spokesman in Tías, and candidate for Mayor, Pancho Hernández.
