The PP accuses PSOE and Podemos of "pulling the leg" of families who have been waiting for a social and health place for years

The Popular Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has expressed its "surprise and discomfort" at the statements of the Minister of Social Rights of the Government of the Canary Islands, Noemí Santana, promising the creation of new social and health places in Lanzarote before the end of the term.

"It is regrettable that the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote meet to address the care of dependency and disability and that said meeting ends with a note of three paragraphs in which it is not explained how or where they plan to implement these places when, precisely, we are talking about one of the most serious problems that Lanzarote has right now, because the works of the new residence that will be located in Tahiche have been paralyzed since the first stone was laid, in May 2021", denounce the popular ones.

In addition, they recall that Santana herself, the president of the regional government, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the president of the Cabildo, Dolores Corujo, attended that act of beginning the works, "to whom it seems that the paralysis of the works of the residence is not with her".

"It is a lack of respect for the families of Lanzarote who anxiously await the opening of this center, that far from explaining what is happening with these works and what forecasts there are about them, the highest responsible for this matter is limited to a mere promise without arguments and that the president of the Cabildo, far from influencing a resolution of the problem, bows her head and instead of the residence prefers to talk about the Comprehensive Care Project for People in Vulnerable Situations in Lanzarote, which is nothing more than the insularization of home help", they add from the PP. In this regard, they point out that this is only "a future project, which is very good but has nothing to do with the social and health places that the island demands".

"You cannot deceive citizens for a mere desire for notoriety and for a headline in the press, which is what the meeting held this week is sadly reduced to", questions the party. For the popular ones, "a matter as sensitive and delicate as that of dependency and care for disability cannot be used in such a frivolous and unsuccessful way".
