At eleven o'clock on Wednesday morning, the Rambla Islas Canarias was inaugurated in Puerto del Carmen. "This work represents a very important advance since it aims to decongest traffic from Avenida de las Playas, so that it does not cease to be a pedestrian zone," said Manuel Fajardo Feo, Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. At the same time, the mayor of the municipality of Tías, José Juan Cruz, expressed his satisfaction with this new work "since it constitutes the fundamental pillar in the road network of Puerto del Carmen, and has been designed in such a way that it becomes a road distributing road traffic."

This section of the Rambla Islas Canarias is included in the Tourist Quality Plan of the Commonwealth of Southern Lanzarote. Its financing, more than one million four hundred thousand euros, has been borne by the Ministry of Tourism and the City Council of Tías, which has contributed the bulk of the budget, with 927 thousand euros.

Once a study of the tourist center of Puerto del Carmen has been carried out, it is planned to commission the project for the section that will go to Rancho de Texas. "This is only the first step to improve the area," explained José Juan Cruz.

The work on the Paseo Marítimo between Punta Limones and Playa Flamingo, in Playa Blanca, with a budget of 324 thousand euros, contributed by the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, is also included in this Plan.
