The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced that starting next Monday, November 8, the new Local Clinic of Puerto del Carmen will begin to operate, which will serve the public from 8:00 in the morning to 8:00 in the afternoon.

The Government of the Canary Islands has invested 447,740 euros in the renovation and expansion works of the Local Clinic of Puerto del Carmen, which have consisted of the expansion and remodeling of the old building in which it was located, to adapt it to the healthcare needs derived from the increase in the number of users. The architectural project increases the surface area of the building by 40 percent to reach 380 square meters, which allows the commissioning of three other offices.

This new Local Clinic belongs to the Basic Health Zone of Tías, which includes the municipal district of the same name and the population entities of La Asomada, Conil, Macher, Masdache, Puerto del Carmen, Tías and Vega de Tegoyo. In terms of infrastructure, this Basic Zone also has the Tías Health Center, where the quotas of patients belonging to the Local Clinic were attended until now.

The Basic Health Zone of Tías has, as of October 2010, 18,699 Health Cards, and in 2009 it attended a total of 123,372 total consultations, between Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Nursing.
