Visit of the new commissioner of the National Police to the Arrecife City Council

The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, accompanied by the Councilor for Health, Echedey Eugenio, received this Wednesday the new commissioner of the National Police in Lanzarote, José Luis Gutiérrez Redondo, who joins his destination on the island after having passed the opposition to promotion to the category of commissioner of the National Police Corps.

The institutional visit took place in the middle of the tug-of-war between both entities over the opening of the Temporary Immigrant Reception Center (CATE) of the Police, which continues without being launched because the City Council alleges that they did not request a license for its installation and that they have not submitted the required documentation afterwards either.

"The protocol act is the first contact with the new head of the National Police force in Lanzarote, in which the will to continue collaborating between both institutions has been reaffirmed so that, in this case Arrecife, is an increasingly safe city," the government group points out in a press release.

José Luis Gutiérrez was for more than four years head of the National Police Station in Santa Cruz de La Palma, having previously served in the TEDAX teams, in the Royal House, Internal Affairs and in Spanish embassies abroad.
