The municipality of Tías has received investments worth around 60 million euros during this legislature. This was explained by the mayor, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, at a breakfast with the media in Puerto del Carmen, where he pointed out that Tías has been the municipality that "has invested the most during these four years." The mayor has assured that this "great investment" has been possible thanks to the agreements reached both with the Government of Spain, through Plan E, and with the Government of the Canary Islands.

Cruz Saavedra recalled that the legislature in Tías began without a port in La Tiñosa, without a rambla, without remodeling Avenida de las Playas, without a school in Mácher-La Asomada, without a swimming pool and without a youth center, among other facilities. "By contributing projects and executing them with foreign investments, we have managed to reconvert the municipality," the mayor defended.

In this sense, he highlighted the "renovation" of Puerto del Carmen, which has been based on the improvement of streets and avenues. In addition, this town must now face the tourist modernization plan which, according to the mayor, will serve to renovate many accommodations that have become "obsolete", as well as to generate jobs and create new parking spaces.

The bases for the new legislature

After having faced these investments during this legislature, José Juan Cruz has already planned a guide that the City Council will follow during the next legislature, if the socialist is re-appointed mayor. One of the most important initiatives will be the tourist modernization plan, but the mayor also intends to contain the Consistory's spending and adapt it to the "new social situation."

"We will continue to bet on the network of sports schools, on education and on well-being, but we will have to adapt the budget to the new social reality and emergency situations," the mayor prioritized. He also assured that during the next legislature, if he is re-elected as mayor, he will promote new technologies and the development of municipal information. "We will try to develop a new web portal to inform both citizens about municipal matters and tourists," he indicated.

Elections

Regarding the upcoming elections, in which he will repeat as a candidate for Mayor of Tías for the PSOE, he assured that he is just as excited as when he first held a position in the City Council, in 1995. "There is only one difference. If the party had believed that my candidacy was not appropriate, I would have happily gone home," he indicated.

He has also presented the list that will accompany him to the May elections, which includes the names of Gertraud Gfoeller, Colinda Pérez, Juan Félix Eugenio, Francisco Hernández, Saray Rodríguez, Tomás Silvera, Dunia Hernández and Alfonso Gopar, among others.
