The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, has responded forcefully to the accusations made by the PP candidate for mayor of the municipality, [José Francisco Hernández, who has denounced that the mayor is "financing" the campaign "with public money".->52578] Cruz Saavedra has challenged Hernández to "prove" this fact, as well as that he is "giving away paint cans left and right" or that he "invited university students from the municipality in La Laguna to dinner and a party", as the PP councilor stated this Tuesday on Radio Lanzarote.
The mayor of Tías has expressed his "indignation" at Hernández's words and has stated that they are "a criminal provocation." "He believes that anything goes to be mayor of Tías and forgets the minimum control of his words and actions, where he not only slanders and defames me, but also the students and residents of the municipality to whom he attributes dishonest behavior," Cruz Saavedra denounced.
Therefore, he has asked the PP spokesperson in the City Council to "provide the documentation" on which he bases his accusations or "send it immediately to the courts, because you cannot accuse with lies and falsehoods."
In this sense, he has defended that the meeting he held with university students from Tías in La Laguna was paid for by himself and his colleagues, "and not with public funds." "It was not a party but a meeting with students that we paid for out of our own pockets and there are invoices for all the expenses. Unfortunately for the PP, this City Council, as a corporation, has had nothing to do with that meeting nor has it spent a euro on it," he said.
Likewise, the mayor has expressed his concern about the behavior of the popular candidate for mayor of Tías, which he has described as "delirious." "It leads him to meddle with the beneficiaries of the housing rehabilitation plan, questioning without reason their right to enjoy these aids and describe the measure with a pejorative gift of paint cans left and right," he criticized. "José Francisco knows these plans and knows what the criteria are that are followed, so it saddens me that he offends the beneficiaries in this way," he remarked.
The PP's project "does not catch on in Tías"
Cruz Saavedra has also assured that the PP tries to "undermine the municipal swimming pool in every public intervention." "He has gone to the extreme of being so childish as to say that we want it to plug in young people with whom I meet," questioned the mayor, who has assured that Hernández "has realized that his project does not catch on in Tías and seeing that his expectations are falling apart, because even his own PP colleagues have begun to distrust him, he desperately lashes out against everything and everyone without calculating the damage that is caused to third parties."
Finally, the mayor has assured that "fighting against the work developed by the PSOE in Tías is not easy" and has recommended to the PP "more tranquility to digest that the residents know which party best defends the interests of the citizens."
