The UGT and CCOO unions of the island are preparing for the general strike that will take place on September 29. This Wednesday they met in an assembly to explain the details of the call to those present and inform them about the new labor reform. According to the general secretary of UGT in Lanzarote, César Reyes, "about 320 people" attended the event.
Thus, they are preparing to take to the streets on September 29, the day on which at 12 noon they will concentrate in front of the doors of the Old Cabildo to leave later, at 1 p.m., towards the building of the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration.
"It is necessary to paralyze the country so that the Government does not continue to trample on the rights of workers," Reyes said. And, in his opinion, "the labor reform is the prelude to the privatization of the pension system."
