The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, regrets the decision of the PSOE and Lanzarote en Pie – Sí Podemos and that "they have not wanted to work together to solve the problems of the neighbors evicted from Titerroy, abandoning the working commission."

“The working commission has the clear objective of setting aside political colors and, through consensus, demanding an urgent solution from the Government of the Canary Islands for this drama that has lasted for more than ten years”, points out the mayor of Arrecife, who deeply regrets that both parties have wanted to “turn the neighbors' problem into a circus”, and that they have not even “met even once to try to solve this problem.”

In the Plenary session of last September, both the PSOE and Lanzarote en Pie – Sí Podemos voted in favor of the creation of the working commission. “It is painful that political parties, which in theory come to improve the lives of citizens, now abandon the evicted neighbors”, adds the mayor.

"It should also be remembered that during the mandate of Mayor Cándido Reguera, the Arrecife City Council prepared the file for the rehabilitation of the Titerroy homes, and that the departure of the Reguera government and the ineffectiveness of subsequent governments, in which the PSOE has always been present, led to this unsustainable situation for the neighbors", says Pérez.

Likewise, "it should also be noted that the mayor of Arrecife publicly offered the Housing area to councilor Leticia Padilla in the Plenary session of September 30, and that she would chair the working commission", something that the councilor of Lanzarote en Pie – Sí Podemos, Leticia Padilla, said publicly that “she would have no problem” in having the "competence delegated to her."

“In addition to that public statement, I held a private meeting in which she accepted the delegation of the management of the rehabilitation of homes”, assures the mayor, who regrets that “she is not up to the task” to assume responsibilities at a key moment for the rehabilitation of the Titerroy homes.

“As mayor of Arrecife, I will not tire until I finally get the neighbors evicted from Titerroy to have their homes rehabilitated and put an end to this drama in which they have been living for more than ten years”, concludes the mayor.
