The Haría City Council celebrated a new edition of the traditional Puesta de Mantel this weekend, one of the most emblematic activities of the Canary Islands Day program, which brought together more than 400 people in the town square.

The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, highlighted the great reception of the activity and the commitment of the citizens to local traditions. Villalba indicated that the reception of this "celebration so representative of our identity continues to show that our traditions are still very much alive."

"The Puesta de Mantel is a testament to the pride we feel for our roots and the collective effort to keep our cultural heritage alive," he added.

For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Alberto de León, highlighted the work and creativity demonstrated by the residents of Haría. "This gathering has established itself as an essential event within Canary Islands Day and as an example of citizen participation and coexistence," he stated.

The initiative brought together neighbors, families, and community groups from the municipality, who participated by decorating tables inspired by Canary Island traditions, gastronomy, and cultural heritage. The evening unfolded in a festive atmosphere of coexistence, once again becoming a meeting point to share and preserve the archipelago's customs.

During the event, the traditional decorated table contest was also held, with a prize of 300 euros. The jury evaluated aspects such as the use of objects representative of Canarian customs and traditions, the design and originality of the table, the attire of its members, and the presence of products from traditional Canarian cuisine. The first prize went to the table of Alba Torres Cabrera.

The Puesta de Mantel is part of the program organized by the Haría City Council for Canary Islands Day, a date dedicated to highlighting the customs, culture, and identity of the Canarian people.
