The Government decrees a state of alert due to the risk of heavy rainfall and possible flooding

The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies has decreed the alert situation due to an adverse weather phenomenon that may cause heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

The Alert has been activated since 1:00 p.m. this Sunday for Tenerife and the islands of the eastern province as a result of the yellow warning decreed by the State Meteorological Agency.

The Aemet predicts that in the province of Las Palmas the rains will reach an accumulated precipitation in one hour of 15 liters per square meter.

The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies recommends that the population not leave their homes, check the roofs and not park vehicles in the dry beds of ravines.

The declaration of alert for intense showers does not imply, for the moment, the suspension of classes.
