The visit of economist José Carlos Díez to Lanzarote, which aimed to carry out fieldwork for the economic report commissioned by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, concluded this Thursday. In conclusion, the first institution highlights that the priority objectives of the report will be job recovery, economic diversification and the safety of the destination.
Díez's appointments on the island began last Monday with a meeting with the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, and the Minister of Tourism, Ángel Vázquez. With them, he discussed the state of the island's institutions and the position that Lanzarote wants to take at this time.
José Carlos Díez also participated that day in a working session at the Cabildo facilities, where the president and the Minister of Tourism were present again, as well as agents from the business sector and union representatives.
Other meetings and visits to strategic enclaves on the island
On Tuesday morning, a second contact was made with the business sector. This was done through a webinar, in which the other two economists who will prepare the economic report on Lanzarote also participated: Daniel Lacalle and Miguel Sebastián. This online meeting was held with technicians from the Chamber of Commerce, the Lanzarote Tourist Federation, the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL) and representatives from Turismo Lanzarote.
Finally, on Wednesday and also at the headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the last of the working sessions with the business sector was closed. Representatives from the UGT and CCOO unions joined this session.
On the other hand, José Carlos Díez took advantage of the afternoons of his visit to Lanzarote to analyze important strategic projects and enclaves on the island, such as La Geria, La Santa or the capital itself, Arrecife.
Thus, with all the information acquired during these days by Díez, the team of economists is already working on the economic and strategic report for Lanzarote.
