The lack of vehicles in the Parks and Gardens area of Arrecife is due to a "regularization" of the municipal vehicle fleet. This is what the councillor of the area, Ascensión Toledo, has assured after the criticism from the PP for that absence of vehicles. In this regard, the councillor has assured that, despite this, the service has continued to be provided and "at all times" the workers of the agreements have continued working in different parts of the city. She has also stressed that the situation is "moving forward" and Parks and Gardens currently has a vehicle from another municipal area full time. The three vehicles of the Department, however, are still pending repair.

"The vehicle fleet has had a process of regularization of its own procedures, the ways of operating, making purchases and so on, and in this internal process the vehicles that have been damaged in this period have been affected", Toledo explained on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero. This period, according to the PP, has already lasted 6 months.

"Having such an important period without repair, the breakdowns coincided", Toledo admitted, however, contrasting that "what is certain is that the service has not stopped being provided at any time". "We have had to coordinate with other areas, which is much more uncomfortable than having your car available", explained the councillor. Thus, Ascensión Toledo has stressed that "at all times the agreement staff have gone to the services that have been assigned to them".

The Department "demanded" to have other vehicles available

According to her, since the maintenance of the municipal car fleet depends on the Vehicle Fleet, "while this regularization was being carried out, they could not be repaired". On the other hand, the area did not receive "authorization to undertake this repair in a specialized workshop". The situation, she said, is currently "moving forward" because the Department has "demanded" that the service be covered with other municipal vehicles that are available.

"These things will always get better in the long run, once the processes are established and clarified, it won't happen to you again", the councillor defended. "For the moment, we have already managed to be allowed to undertake the repairs from the area itself, with our own budget. We have passed the spending proposals to buy the parts, although the repair is then done by the vehicle fleet", she said.
