The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands plans to start the construction of the 200 social houses in the Maneje neighborhood in the second half of 2022, according to the counselor Sebastián Franquis, who defends that it would comply "with the announced forecasts included in the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025 to start in this Legislature the construction of the first public promotion homes carried out by the regional Executive in Lanzarote in 26 years."
As explained by the regional Executive in a statement, the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI) is finalizing the bidding process for drafting the construction projects of 437 protected homes throughout the Canary Islands, including the 200 in Maneje. The Institute's forecast is to award the drafting of projects for all these homes at the beginning of 2022 so that they are delivered to ICAVI in three months and launch the bidding process for the execution of the works next summer. In this way, the works of the 200 new protected homes in the Maneje neighborhood could begin in the fall of 2022.
"To carry out this process, the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community reflect several economic items to finance both the drafting of projects and the execution of the works. In fact, the Budgets include a specific item to pay for the drafting of the projects for the 200 homes on the island of Lanzarote endowed with 421,096 euros", they emphasize, in response to the criticisms raised by the mayor of Arrecife and regional deputy, Ástrid Pérez. In addition, they clarify that under the heading "Construction of public promotion homes" the 2022 Budget includes "sufficient funding to launch the construction of the new protected houses."
