The Cabildo of Lanzarote, together with the Emergency Consortium, will proceed this Thursday, December 15, to remove 15 vehicles that have fallen on the slopes of Risco de Famara and Barranco de Temisa.
The fire brigade will take care of the task with the help of a helicopter for the transport of materials from the company Eliance Helicopter Global Services.
At 09:15h on Thursday, there will be a coordination meeting between the troops and the helicopter pilot next to the hermitage of Las Nieves, at which time the media will be able to gather resources.
Since last Friday, members of the Fire Brigade have descended to the points where the vehicles are located to cut and stack them, generating 17 bags with car waste. Some 20 firefighters have participated in the operation, spread over several days, with an average of eight troops per day.
The resulting material will be hoisted and removed with the collaboration of the helicopter, which will transport it to the collection point on the esplanade next to the hermitage of Las Nieves. This material will be taken care of by a company specialized in the removal of vehicles.
The action aims to improve the environmental and landscape quality of this valuable protected natural space, undoubtedly the refuge of the endemic flora of Lanzarote. The greatest floristic diversity of Lanzarote develops in the north of the island, where the conditions of greater humidity favor a better development of the plant communities. In the Risco de Famara are the majority of the island's endemisms, so this massif stands as the most important biogenetic nucleus of the island and one of the most prominent in the Canary Archipelago.
