The Cabildo of Lanzarote presented this Monday, in the plenary hall of the Island Corporation, the second edition of the project You are Lanzarote, influencer of your home, which this year is developed under the subtitle “More Lanzarote than ever”.

The event was chaired by the Councilor for Education, Ascensión Toledo; the Councilor for Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío; the Councilor for Open Government and Citizen Participation, Armando Santana; and the coordinator and creator of the project, Amalia Martínez Fajardo, together with the content creators who star in the first actions of the campaign and representatives of the collaborating entities.

In her speech, the Councilor for Education, Ascensión Toledo, highlighted “the transversal nature of a project that helps us to spread what we are as people from Lanzarote and La Graciosa. It is essential to adapt the messages to the new formats demanded by young people, and this campaign achieves it with great success.”

For his part, the Councilor for Open Government, Armando Santana, stressed “the importance of institutions collaborating with initiatives like this, which in this edition places special emphasis on human rights, linking identity and universal values.”

The Councilor for Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío, praised the project's ability to “know how to perpetuate our own through young people, to whom we must know how to reach. The content created for social networks and other initiatives included in the campaign are a key tool to strengthen our identity.”

Finally, the creator and coordinator of the project, Amalia Martínez Fajardo, stressed “the need to bring young people closer to basic figures in the history of Lanzarote, and to continue generating knowledge from home. We are all prescribers of our identity, influencing our environment so that Lanzarote and La Graciosa remain alive in the collective memory.”

The organizers have referred on several occasions to the work carried out by the island councilor Aroa Revelo, who last year directed the Area of Open Government, and was fully committed to this pioneering initiative. Among the public was also the general director of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, Daniel Morales.

A tribute to the great island figures

As the main novelty, this second edition features great social and cultural figures of Lanzarote. This year, under the watchful eye of the distinguished César Manrique, the tribute falls on Manuel Díaz Rijo, a pioneer of desalination on the island. During the event, a son and a grandson of the honoree were present, to whom the Cabildo thanked for their collaboration and commitment.

Another novelty of this edition will be the creation of an award for the most original content creator, which will recognize the capacity for innovation and the positive impact on the dissemination of island identity.

“You are Lanzarote, influencer of your home” is a transversal proposal, the first of its kind on the island and which has been very well received in the Archipelago, with which the Cabildo redoubles its commitment to bringing culture, social awareness and education to the young population of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, using social networks as the main communication channel.

For this, it actively uses channels such as Instagram (@eres.influencerdetucasa and TikTok (@eresinfluencerdetucasa platforms where young people concentrate a large part of their attention and interaction. In addition, the different contents are reflected in the thousands of followers of each of the content creators who collaborate in the campaign.

More than two million followers

The campaign starts with six content creators who, together, have an audience of more than two million followers (in the first edition there were about 700,000), thus guaranteeing a massive reach and a dissemination that transcends borders.

“You are Lanzarote, influencer of your home” continues to consolidate itself as a benchmark in terms of cultural and social innovation, using new technologies not only as a showcase, but also as an educational and social transformation tool.
