The Cabildo plans to eliminate "conflict points" on the roads using electromagnetic loops

As a continuation of the improvement plans for the Lanzarote road network, the Department of Public Works, led by Fabián Martín, has proposed the elimination of conflict points on the Lanzarote roads, included in the project "Elimination of especially dangerous points on the Island 2008", which is included in the Cooperation Plan for Municipal Competence Works and Services and Roads.

The project is carried out to control the speed of vehicles circulating through the LZ-20 San Bartolomé, LZ-30 Masdache, LZ-46 La Vegueta, LZ-301 Montaña Blanca, LZ-301 Güime, LZ-401 Muñique, LZ-501 Conil and Avenida Faro de Pechiguera (Playa Blanca) crossings.

The works consist of placing groups of traffic lights at the entrances of each of the aforementioned nuclei, so that they cover both directions of the road, which will be controlled by a set of electromagnetic loops that close them when they detect a circulation speed greater than 50 kilometers per hour.

In addition to controlling the speed of vehicles, in the sections of LZ-20 San Bartolomé and Avenida Faro de Pechiguera (Playa Blanca), the traffic light installation has the option of a button for pedestrians, allowing the traffic light to be closed also when the pedestrian is about to cross the road at the pedestrian crossing.

Each group of traffic lights will be made up of the main one, of the amber-amber-red type, and preceding it at a variable distance of about 100 meters, the pre-warning traffic light will be placed.

The Minister of Public Works, Fabián Martín, has asked users affected by the works to "excuse the inconvenience and drive carefully, respecting the provisional signage".
