The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the Minister of Employment, Jesús Machín, participated this Monday in the presentation of the Municipal Employment Plan Cabildo of Lanzarote - City Council of San Bartolomé 2024-2025.
This project, financed by the Employment Area of the Cabildo with a subsidy of 180,410 euros, has allowed the hiring of 15 unemployed people, prioritizing those over 40 years of age, in different professional profiles such as cleaning laborers, painters, administrative technicians and early childhood education technicians, among others.
During the presentation of this employment plan, held at the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé, the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the importance of this project for labor insertion and the economic development of the island. “From the Cabildo of Lanzarote we continue to bet on active employment policies that improve the quality of life of our neighbors. With initiatives like this, we not only offer job opportunities, but we also provide training that reinforces long-term employability," he said.
For his part, the Minister of Employment, Jesús Machín, highlighted the incorporation of training sessions in this edition of the plan. "In addition to facilitating access to the labor market, this year we have included training in languages, as well as digital and personal skills, which will contribute to a better preparation of the participants for future opportunities."
It should be noted that this subsidy is part of the Collaboration Agreement between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and all the local corporations of the island, signed last November, through which a total of 1,500,000 euros has been allocated among the seven town councils. The purpose of this agreement is the hiring of unemployed people to carry out actions that benefit the community and contribute to the reduction of unemployment on the island.
