The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote approved the definitive list of awards for seven lines of competitive bidding for sports subsidies in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, both for athletes and clubs.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stated that this approval "demonstrates the strong commitment to sports on the part of this Corporation." "The work carried out by the Sports area denotes the interest and concern for promoting and facilitating sports practice on our island, which is undoubtedly one of the pillars of our island model," he asserted.
The vice president and councilor of Finance and Contracting, María Jesús Tovar, stated that these subsidies "were an economic priority for the Corporation." "We are aware that many sports clubs and athletes depend fundamentally on these aids to subsist, so we have tried to accelerate the procedure as much as possible," she added.
For his part, the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, stated that these subsidies "are the result of coordinated work and the effort of the institution." "Sports clubs need these aids to continue growing and promoting our sport, so we have always extended a hand to collaborate in everything possible to make it possible," added Monzón.
Seven lines with nearly two million euros
As announced when the open call was launched, as when the provisional list was published, the Island Sports Service has established eight lines of subsidies through competitive bidding for this season. The line of promotion and encouragement of indigenous sports has also been divided into three, with the amounts assigned being 64,138 euros; 52,000 euros and 15,253 euros (131,391 euros in total).
Finally, a line of 60,000 euros for high-performance athletes has also been included, as well as the line of travel for clubs and athletes, which has been divided into two items: 309,308 euros and 159,000 euros.
