The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, and the island councilor for Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, held a meeting this week with residents of Nazaret to present progress on roads, accessibility and irrigation network, as part of the commitment acquired by the Institution months ago.
Dolores Corujo pointed out that "all the requests and proposals resulting from the last meeting held" have been taken into account, so that the Cabildo demonstrates the real intention to listen to the population and act accordingly.
“One of the most important issues for citizens is the work on the Nazaret road and, as we told them in the previous meeting, a work should never be started without executing the expropriation. That is why we inform you that the expropriation is in the public exhibition phase for allegations until June 28, so we continue to advance in satisfying the demand of the people”, announced the president.

In the same vein, the councilor detailed the status of various agreements and requests from the population. “We accept the speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour in the urban section, to increase the safety of people, the removal of trees from the ravine and respect for access to farms, which was already taken into consideration previously”, he explained.
“We have executed the walls in the roundabout area, as well as a wall in the school area, and sidewalks are being built on the road to Calle Zarapicos, the placement of irrigation for the farms, pending the supply of the pipe by the Consortium, and work is being done on an alternative project for the connection with Oasis de Nazaret”, the councilor clarified.
Finally, he pointed out that "it will not be possible to prohibit the access of trucks on the road, since it will be the alternative to traffic through Teguise, nor to lower the level of the road due to floods and regulations." Regarding the lighting of the urban area, Mendoza indicated that "the existing one will be maintained".
