The Cabildo of Lanzarote has completed the restoration works of the Teguise Windmill, an action that from the institution they point out is part of the recovery of the historical heritage of the island, framed in the actions of the European Regional Development Fund “A way of making Europe”, within the framework of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy “Conurban Azul”.

The project had an investment of 104,525 euros, from ERDF funds, through the Conurban Azul Strategy of EDUSI Lanzarote, and the objective of this has been "to contribute to the historical heritage of the Island being an engine of attraction and consolidation of a tourist destination".

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, was visiting the mill this Sunday together with the Minister of Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, and the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.

“With the culmination of these works, cultural elements of the popular architecture of Lanzarote are restored and improved. Thanks to the actions taken, we have maintained the original truncated cone-shaped cube, repairing it and adding the machinery and the roof, using pieces similar to those that existed in the original and taking advantage of those that have been preserved,” Corujo explained.
