The Cabildo of Lanzarote has acquired two adapted tricycles for the Road Safety Education Service, with the aim that children with functional diversity can participate, on equal terms with other young people, in the various programs that are developed through this department that coordinates Myriam Barros.
“Thanks to this progressive government that works for and for the people and for achieving their real inclusion, finally children with disabilities will be able to fully enjoy the various activities that the Cabildo's Road Safety Education Service develops each year for the island's children and adolescents,” says Barros.
In this sense, the councilor of Youth and Road Safety Education of the first island corporation points out that, although “the Road Safety Education Service was launched two decades ago, until now it did not have adapted vehicles for people with functional diversity, therefore being an important deficiency.”
Eleven new bicycles
To the purchase of these adapted tricycles, which have involved an investment of 1,520 euros, has been added the acquisition of 11 new bicycles. “In total, we have allocated 6,489.10 euros to the purchase of these 13 new vehicles and there are already more than 40 bicycles that the service has,” details Myriam Barros, who affirms that her intention is to continue increasing the fleet of the Road Safety Education Service, especially with more adapted vehicles.

It should be remembered that, annually, the Road Safety Education Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote develops a series of activities aimed at citizens, especially students of Infant, Primary and Secondary Education of the island, with the aim of promoting road safety education through the acquisition of healthy habits and involving the population in the construction of more friendly cities.
