The Teguise City Council, in collaboration with the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has opened the bidding process for the new contract for the conservation and maintenance of green areas in the municipality, an action that represents a total investment of 1,802,000 euros and marks a new step in the government group's strategy to strengthen sustainability, citizen well-being, and responsible land management.
The contract, with an initial duration of 24 months and the possibility of extension, will allow for the establishment of a stable, planned, and homogeneous service in all areas of the municipality, with an organization that guarantees constant presence, balanced attention, and the capacity to respond to specific needs.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that "this tender responds to a firm political commitment to the citizens and our environment, taking a decisive step towards a more modern, fairer, and more sustainable management model. This contract represents a clear commitment to the planning and stability of public services, for a municipality that grows with balance and manages its resources responsibly, moving from specific actions to constant and organized management that provides real answers to what our residents ask for. With this investment, we guarantee that the entire municipality receives the same attention and the same commitment from a government that works for equal opportunities and for sustainability as a future axis," Duque stressed.
The Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Nieves Martínez, explained that the new contract will allow for "a more efficient organization of the service, reinforcing presence in all areas and guaranteeing constant maintenance of the municipality's green spaces." She also pointed out that "the state of our garden areas is not a minor detail, but an aspect that directly influences the quality of life of our residents, and also the image we project to those who visit us. Greenery is a calling card and a factor of competitiveness, because it reflects the care we put into our environment and the experience we offer as a tourist destination."Martínez also pointed out that the contract incorporates mechanisms to reinforce the service with **personnel from employment agreements** and will be complemented by actions linked to the EDIL subsidy, which will allow for significant improvements in various areas of the municipality
The Councilor for Procurement, Javier Díaz, highlighted "the strategic nature of this process and the joint work developed between the different municipal areas to guarantee a rigorous tender and efficient execution." He also pointed out "the importance of institutional collaboration and wanted to express his gratitude to the Procurement Department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote for the technical support and assistance provided during the processing of this file".
With this action, Teguise assures that it "reinforces its commitment to a model of sustainable and balanced development, where environmental protection, service improvement, and citizen participation become pillars of government action".
