The Teguise Town Council, through the Education and Roads and Works departments, is carrying out the installation of a roof in the CEIP Doctor Alfonso Spínola, in La Villa, with the aim of offering greater comfort and protection from the sun to the students and teaching staff of the center.
The project, financed with 117,183 euros from municipal funds, is part of the actions promoted by the City Council to improve educational infrastructures and adapt school spaces to the climatic conditions of the municipality. In addition, it responds to a demand from the AMPA (Mothers and Fathers Association) and the management team, with whom we have worked in a coordinated manner.
The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that "with this action we reaffirm our commitment to the education and well-being of the boys and girls of Teguise, listening to the needs of the educational community and working to offer suitable spaces that favor the safety and comfort of all students."
Duque also acknowledged the work of the Councilor for Education, Mar Boronat, "for her commitment and closeness to the AMPAs, addressing their proposals and promoting continuous improvements in the municipality's schools." In this regard, the mayoress announced the upcoming call for the Municipal School Council, scheduled for November, "as a space for dialogue and participation with the entire educational community."
For his part, the Councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, pointed out that the installation of the roof is part of a continuous plan to improve school infrastructure and that other maintenance actions will soon be carried out in the center and its surroundings, including repainting the pavement of the court and the project to create shaded areas in the stands, with the aim of guaranteeing more functional spaces adapted to the needs of the students.
Throughout this year, the Teguise City Council has carried out various improvements in the municipality's educational centers, including the renovation of carpentry in the CEIPs of La Villa and Tahiche, the renovation of bathrooms and dining rooms in the single-classroom schools, as well as painting and general maintenance work. These actions, they point out, "highlight the City Council's commitment to educational quality, the safety and well-being of students, and have been developed in close collaboration with the AMPAS and management teams to respond to the specific needs of each center."
