The Teguise City Council demands that the Cabildo of Lanzarote "comply with the collaboration agreed with all the municipalities of the island that require the machinery of the island's Mobile Park for the annual maintenance service of the dirt roads of the municipality of Teguise and the rest of the island."
Councilor Olivia Duque denounces that "Teguise has been waiting all year for a response to the requests made by the City Council to the Works and Agriculture area of the Cabildo, given the strong demand from the agricultural sector and also from residents affected by sections of sand or dirt that accumulate, especially in periods of bad weather."
"We are only asking for something that corresponds to us, just as it seems to be already being done in other municipalities, since it is an insular responsibility," explained Olivia Duque, insisting that she "receives many residents and professionals from the primary sector who urgently need the repair and maintenance of so many agricultural roads that exist in Teguise."
"Until recently, and thanks to the work of the Roads and Works area of Teguise, we have always prepared the local and agricultural roads, with cleaning work, removal of stubble, debris, stones, as well as cleaning the accesses to the beaches and areas with the highest influx, but since the service was insularized, we see how nothing has been done despite requesting it up to 4 times by official letter from the mayor."
In this sense, Olivia Duque urges the spokesperson for the PSOE in Teguise and also councilor of the Cabildo to "do his job or ensure that his colleagues in the highest island institution do it so as not to make us think badly about the reasons why certain services or aid are vetoed to Teguise."
"We are observing how the rest of the town councils, and more specifically, those governed by the socialist party, have all the necessary machinery at their disposal, while in Teguise, which has a total of 750 kilometers of dirt and sand roads, and which has always had the collaboration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote's leveling machines to smooth the access of hikers, cyclists and vehicles in the sections enabled for transit, especially in those where more deformations are detected, now the response is null, with the consequences that this entails," laments Duque.
