The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Island Agricultural Service, has opened the deadline for granting subsidies to "improve the profitability of agricultural holdings in Lanzarote and La Graciosa."

From this Thursday, September 14, until next October 4, you can apply for aid that is aimed at "subsidizing the operating expenses" of an agricultural holding, such as the purchase of stone, sand or picón, land, manure or the transport of water in tanks.

"Within our priority objective of recovering the countryside, the purpose of these subsidies is to support and encourage our farmers in the maintenance and operation of their farms, with the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa contributing half of the operating expenses," says Oswaldo Betancort.

The subsidy covers up to 50% of the total expense, with a maximum amount for each beneficiary of 25,000 euros, and 10,000 euros per hectare." The "minimum cost" of the applicants' activity must be "2,000 euros", and the area of agricultural exploitation (set of enclosures where the expense is executed) must have a "minimum of 3,000 square meters", according to the graphic declaration of the SIGPAC, Geographic Information System of Agricultural Parcels.

The SIGPAC use of the enclosures that make up the agricultural holding must be TA, TH, VI or any other that indicates a productive use. Farmers from Lanzarote and La Graciosa registered in the REGEPA who have their registered office in either of the two islands can benefit from these aids. To verify that the farmer is registered in the REGEPA, you can consult it in the following link.

Subsidies can be requested at the offices of the Island Agricultural Service (Experimental Agricultural Farm) from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for which they must go with plans of the farms where the expense will be executed and the DNI, or through the specific procedure enabled in the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the latter being a mandatory procedure for legal entities.

The regulatory bases for the granting of these subsidies under a competitive concurrence regime, aimed at the agricultural and livestock sectors of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, number 88, of July 21, 2023.

The justification period will be from May 1 to 31, 2024, or earlier if the activity subject to the subsidy has ended, and the payment of the same is made in "a single payment" after justification. For more information, you can contact the Island Agricultural Service on the telephone 928598500, extensions 3604 and 3600.
