"The inability of the Canary Islands Health Service to consolidate employment for 18 years, and which has taken a decade to resolve the 2007 OPE, cannot be paid exclusively by the hundreds of health workers from Lanzarote who are being dismissed by the Management in recent days." In this way, the councilor and spokesperson for Somos Lanzarote in the Cabildo, Tomás López, has demanded solutions from the health administration, which is led by Coalición Canaria, in the face of the massive dismissal of professionals from the island, many of whom have accumulated more than a decade of experience.

"It is an anomaly that the Government of the Canary Islands is now closing, a decade late, the 2007 OPE", consider from Somos Lanzarote. The assembly organization points out that "political responsibilities are required" adding that "it is regrettable that the administration itself promotes job insecurity and the insecurity of its own workers", recalling that some of the dismissed workers "accumulate 10, 15 and even 20 years of experience and dedication to healthcare in Lanzarote".

López regrets "the insensitivity of the Canary Islands Health Service and the health management of Lanzarote towards its own workers" assuring that "the rights acquired by the professionals who have been selected in the opposition process initiated more than eleven years ago, and who are justly deserving of their places, should not imply the contempt and abuse of those other health workers who in all this time have not had the opportunity to consolidate their jobs due to the inability to manage those who have been running healthcare in the Canary Islands for decades".

For all these reasons, Somos Lanzarote shows its solidarity to the group of more than one hundred health workers who are being dismissed during these days, demanding from the health administration led by José Manuel Baltar (Coalición Canaria) a fair solution that allows the maintenance of employment and the assessment of the experience of those who have demonstrated their commitment and professionalism for years and even decades of practice for public health.
