The Artisans' Square of the Farmer's House Museum will host next May 29 and 30 six artisan workshops organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote on the occasion of the celebration of Canary Islands Day. The initiative seeks to bring to the public the different modalities that make up the art of Canarian craftsmanship through participatory activities taught by artisans and specialized entities from the island.
The Minister of Craftsmanship, Aroa Revelo, highlights that these workshops represent an opportunity to bring our traditions closer to the population and to value the work carried out by the artisans of Lanzarote in the conservation of Canarian cultural heritage. "From the Cabildo, we continue to promote initiatives that allow traditional artisanal techniques to be kept alive and encourage their transmission to new generations," she adds.
Among the scheduled activities are the workshop History, Obtaining and Process of Cochineal Dye, taught by artisan María de la Concepción García; the Ceramics workshop, developed by the Fundación Canaria Juan Brito; and the Palm Basketry workshop, empleita, in charge of artisan Yolanda Benedicta Torres Moreno.
