The San Bartolomé City Council has granted a subsidy of 100,000 euros to the Cabildo de La Palma, thus showing solidarity with the situation that the island is experiencing after the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, which began on September 19, “causing incalculable damage that continues to increase day by day, which has led the Council of Ministers to declare La Palma as a catastrophic zone.”

The mayor, Alexis Tejera, explains that San Bartolomé has decided to “show solidarity with the affected neighborhood by making a contribution that can help alleviate the effects of the catastrophe, meet the basic subsistence needs of the population, the recovery of essential public services and infrastructure, or anything we can do to help rebuild the island.”

For this reason, the City Council has granted “a direct subsidy of 100,000 euros since reasons of public, social, economic or humanitarian interest to the Insular Council of La Palma are sufficiently accredited and can be used for health, psychological and social emergency care for those affected, accommodation for those affected, subsistence needs of the population, essential household goods, repair of damage to habitual residences, repair of damage to industrial, commercial and service establishments and essential infrastructure, or repair of damage to farms, establishments or agricultural and livestock production.”

The San Bartolomé City Council points out that this “is not the only solidarity gesture organized by this City Council with this difficult situation on the island of La Palma”, as they recall that this Friday, October 1, they will hold the Concert “Together for La Palma” by Bohemia Lanzarote, also enabling row zero, so that those who wish can make their donations to the La Caixa account ES82 2100 6937 3302 0017 5242. The concert will be broadcast in streaming on local television stations in La Palma, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
