The PSOE of Lanzarote positively assesses the UCO report on Ángel Víctor Torres and celebrates that, after two years of accusations, hoaxes, and false claims, facts that some tried to turn into a narrative of guilt have been clarified. The document, with nearly 400 pages and a large annex of communications, does not support the insinuations spread against the then president of the Canary Islands or his team and, as Torres himself stressed, limits the relationship with Mr. Aldama to a single message, also dismantling the accusation of "encrypting" the phone to hide conversations.

"Today, the truth prevails," states María Dolores Corujo, general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote. "For too long, attempts have been made to damage the honorability of people and institutions with insidious claims that are unsustainable. It is necessary to rectify with the same clarity with which those falsehoods were spread and to apologize to those who were intended to be discredited."

The PSOE of Lanzarote focuses on the essential: there are no criminal actions attributed to the Government presided over by Torres, nor to him personally. There are no signs of “commissions”, “bribes”, “apartments in Atocha”, “exploited women”, or the rest of the fabrications that have been repeated for months. On the contrary, what the analyzed period shows—according to the report itself and the explanations offered today—is the defense of the general interest in a context of emergency, with decisions aimed at guaranteeing supplies and fulfilling contracts signed by the Administration.

Along those lines, it is recalled that the incidents with the supplying company were linked to material delivered and invoices pending payment, with warnings of legal action, and that the Administration's obligation was either to pay what was owed or to incur illegality. Likewise, the dialogue with the Ministry of Transport, through its advisor, Mr. García, was part of the institutional relationship necessary to maintain connectivity and resolve logistical problems, as happened with other air and sea transport companies in the most difficult moments of the pandemic.

The PSOE of Lanzarote also points out that, as Torres explained, the company Soluciones de Gestión arrived in the Canary Islands through Puertos del Estado and that his personal contact occurred months after the hiring; at that stage, there were only claims for services already provided. Similarly, it is recalled that the Supreme Court has concluded the investigation without summoning Torres, and that legal actions have been announced for intrusion into honor against those who spread falsehoods.

"Not everything goes in politics," Corujo emphasizes. "In these two years, lines have been crossed that should not be crossed: the credibility of institutions has been attacked, and families have been hurt with invented stories. Whoever pointed fingers without proof should retract. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to dignify politics."
