The Prosecutor's Office has requested information from the Arrecife City Council and the Lanzarote Cabildo regarding the agreement signed by both institutions for the joint organization of the San Ginés festivities last year, which was criticized at the time by the opposition.

Specifically, CC and Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos denounced the "very high" cost of the celebrations, which they claimed could exceed 800,000 euros. These festivities ended with the dismissal of Nova KirkPatrick as Councilor for Festivities of Arrecife.

The government group of the Cabildo defended at the time that the files related to the San Ginés festivities had been processed "with all guarantees" and that the first institution had only financed the festivities "with 325,000 euros".

Now, according to municipal and Cabildo sources, the Prosecutor's Office has opened informative proceedings regarding the controversial agreement and both institutions are gathering all the information in this regard, although they do not know who filed the complaint.

Tecnosound's complaint to the City Council for non-payment

On the other hand, the current Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, José Alfredo Mendoza, confirmed on Wednesday morning, on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, that the company Tecnosound has filed a contentious-administrative appeal against the City Council for the non-payment of services provided during the San Ginés festivities of 2019. A fact that, however, he has stated has not caught them by surprise.

"Since September of last year we had news that it was going to be like this," said Mendoza, who wanted to "be as prudent as possible" as the matter is already in the hands of Justice. "I only think it is a matter of clarifying who is responsible for the payment," he added.
