Podemos has described as “maximum irresponsibility” the dissolution of the Island Board formed by the Cabildo and the seven town councils, which has been coordinating the response of the institutions of Lanzarote to the Covid-19 pandemic. “They are not capable of rising to the occasion even with 20,000 people unemployed”, questioned the party's spokesperson in the Island Corporation, Myriam Barros.
The decision was announced this Wednesday, after several town councils governed by the Canarian Coalition began to adopt decisions outside of this Board. “It seems that there are those who have put the slogans of their party above common decisions, unilaterally breaking the unity of action”, questioned the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo.
For their part, from Podemos they affirm that this body “blew up after an exchange of accusations that responds once again to the partisan theater to which the two parties that have been governing the island in recent years have accustomed us”.
For the purple formation, it is “essential and urgent” that the coordination between the different local administrations be recovered and “both the PSOE and the Canarian Coalition leave behind that headlong flight that only seeks noise and defends their own electoral interests”.
Myriam Barros says she is convinced that “if they were capable of governing this island together for years, they can also agree on opening the soccer fields to the public” and describes the controversy over this matter as “overacted”.
In Podemos' opinion, “blowing up” this body “perfectly defines the political class”, and has made a call “to responsibility”, urging “both socialists and the Coalition to put aside their partisan interests and think only of what is best for the people”.
