The Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has denounced “the improvisation and the occurrences under which the government group is acting with the island's public transport." And it is that, for the formation it is "inexplicable" that the first island institution is going to spend more than 750,000 euros on installing information screens and developing a mobile application "and not focus on solving the real problems that the service has."

For Podemos "there are more urgent actions to take to improve the bus service, such as increasing frequencies, aid for people at risk of exclusion, conditioning stops or optimizing regular lines." “Putting up a screen that informs in real time of a bus that will take two hours to pass neither improves the user experience nor encourages the use of public transport as the Cabildo intends”, points out Jorge Peñas, councilor of the group.

In the opinion of the formation, "the lack of actions in the area of transport has been a constant so far this legislature." “We have not heard a single proposal to improve the service and the first thing they propose is to make an application for the mobile and put up some screens”, they point out.

Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos points out that "it is inevitable to think about what could be done with those 750,000 euros that the Cabildo is going to allocate between EDUSI funds and its own funds if they were invested with criteria and looking to the future.” According to Peñas, "the government group is being short-sighted and shows that it does not know the reality of the island's public transport at all." "When you are an hour and a half at a stop without shade or shelter from the wind waiting for a bus that does not arrive, the first thing you appreciate is an efficient service," declares the councilor.

Jorge Peñas also wanted to refer to the "absence" of a decarbonization plan for the island's public transport "that begins the transition towards electric mobility and the abandonment of fossil fuels, especially when it is an island Biosphere Reserve and with such a delicate environmental balance." “The Cabildo has to look to the future and bet on social and sustainable mobility, which invites people to use buses daily and that is only achieved by truly improving the experience, with more frequencies, without polluting emissions, with more efficient lines and with decent stops", he concludes.
