The City Council chaired by Óscar Noda advances in the urban rehabilitation works of Avenida Papagayo in Playa Blanca which in its first phase materializes the section between the Iglesia del Carmen and the Papagayo shopping center. With this initial action, the center of the tourist nucleus gains 100 parking spaces since the project enables 35 spaces in the public plot located behind the church and 65 more spaces, in perpendicular parking, on the same Avenida Papagayo, which will become a single direction of circulation, towards Las Coloradas, between the church and Maciot street.

The parking behind the church will have two blue spaces for people with reduced mobility (PMR) and will also have an exclusive area for motorcycles and another for loading and unloading, thus facilitating the work of supplier companies in the hospitality sector.

Óscar Noda explains that “we will also build 300 new public and free parking spaces in the esplanade located in front of the Princesa Yaiza hotel”. This is just one of the actions of the second phase of the project that gives continuity to the renovation of the artery up to the entrance of this wide parking area that will be paved.

The mayor recalls that “the total urban rehabilitation project extends throughout Avenida Papagayo up to the Ciudad Jardín roundabout, with a global investment of 2.6 million euros, which the City Council fully assumes with municipal funds”.

Ángel Lago, Councillor of Public Works of Yaiza, explains that “it is an ambitious project drafted not only to improve the road surface, pave and signalize the road, but also to build sidewalks, eliminate architectural barriers and guarantee accessibility and install luminaires, all actions aimed at improving the safety of drivers and pedestrians on the main artery of Playa Blanca”.

The Yaiza City Council will shortly begin the execution of another important project for the town: the comprehensive conditioning of the entrance to Playa Blanca via Femés, in the section between the Plabacón roundabouts and the Marcastell urbanization, at a cost of 1.3 million euros, also from the municipal budget. The Institution apologizes for any inconvenience the works may cause.
