The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, held a meeting this Tuesday in Tenerife with the Minister of Territorial Planning of the Canary Islands Government, José Antonio Valbuena, in which the mayor demanded a solution to the urban problem of the coastal towns of the municipality, which are still governed by old subsidiary regulations pending the approval of a Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG).

"We request the drafting and immediate publication of a regulation for the Chinijo Archipelago that does not continue to paralyse urban planning, classified, cultural, social and even festive activities", explained Betancort, referring to the legal limbo of towns such as Caleta de Famara, Caleta de Caballo and La Graciosa

"In order to resume this matter, I have personally requested the councillor to schedule a monographic meeting in Teguise for the end of July in order to plan a work schedule between both administrations with the common aim of granting the residents of the affected areas the legal certainty they have been demanding for years", said the mayor of Teguise.

"The PRUG is a plan that has been stranded since it was declared null and void in October 2019, which means a lot of uncertainty when it comes to granting permits and licences to residents, who have had infinite patience, so we once again appeal to the Government of the Canary Islands and its area of Territorial Policy to find the definitive formula to approve an Urban Plan that does not generate doubts, that takes into account the physical and biological reality of these areas, but that does not represent a continuous obstacle for the citizen", said Oswaldo Betancort, reiterating once again that "the objective of this request is to speed up the administrative bureaucracy for the citizen and provide greater security to the operators involved".
