Neighbors and merchants of Colombia Street, in the Arrecife neighborhood of La Vega, delivered more than 100 signatures to the Arrecife City Council this Tuesday, thus showing their disagreement with the sidewalk and asphalt replacement works that are being carried out on this street.

And, as explained by José Daniel Camacho, a resident of the area, the works are leaving only "one lane of parking between Guatemala and Augusto Lorenzo streets", while in the part of the street, which is already remodeled, yes, "the old structure has been left, with parking on both sides."

This neighbor explains that there are "many warehouses and garages with fords" in the area, which will leave both residents and customers of the shops "without parking."

Solution commitment

After the delivery of signatures by the residents of Colombia Street, the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, appeared at these works together with a technician from the City Council and has committed to finding a solution.

Reguera affirms that initially the works involved the disappearance of parking on one side of the road, but that he will do "everything possible" so that finally there is parking on both sides. "I trust that this will be the case, but when I see it, I will end up believing it," says José Daniel for his part.
